IMMERSIVE MULTISENSORY TECHNOLOGY FOR ALTERING BODILY SELF-PERCEPTION

Created by a team of artists and scientists, RE/ME is an experimental, immersive technology that uses vibration and sound stimuli to change bodily self-perception. The technology applies targeted and carefully composed vibrotactile and sound stimuli to hack the somatosensory representation of the body in the brain. RE/ME can help people feel more bodily aware. RE/ME can also be used as a creative tool that allows users to experience their own body in a radically different way by imaginatively altering their perception of the size, shape, and organization of their own body.

Unlike many current and emerging technologies for the body, RE/ME was invented with the aim not of replacing the human sensory system, but of enhancing our existing sensory abilities, particularly our ability to sense ourselves.
